Before

Contact with St. Gabriel’s Hospital and Fondation Ste Zithe had existed since 2015. Only 54 percent of births in Malawi could be medically attended.

The mission

In 2017, midwife Astrid Kany led four weeks of postpartum care, Kangaroo Mother Care for premature babies, a rolling clinic to remote villages, and emergency training for birth complications.

“I saw it as preparation for Africa.” — Astrid Kany on her Mindoro missions

After

Namitete was the organization’s first maternal-care mission on a second continent — and the foundation for its ongoing partnership with Fondation Ste Zithe.

The next step

The next mission starts with you.

A donation, a membership, or your time: every contribution becomes surgery, safe anesthesia, and training on the ground.
