Philippines (Mindoro) · 2017
141 patients treated and more than 100 surgical procedures, along with obstetric and emergency care.
Before
In the fourth year on Mindoro nobody had to explain how the work is done. The team knew Oriental Mindoro Southern District Hospital, and the hospital knew the team.
The mission
From 6 to 30 November 2017, together with German Doctors, 141 patients were treated and more than 100 surgical procedures carried out. Obstetric and emergency care came on top, above all for the Mangyan and families in need from the lowlands.
Many team members took several weeks of leave for it. The mission was funded entirely by donations and donated supplies.
What was different
The emphasis shifted from surgical output towards aftercare and training the local staff. That is the point at which a mission stops being outside help: when the colleagues at the hospital can take over.
After
2017 was the last mission to Mindoro for the time being. The next mission to the Philippines is planned for Mindanao in 2027.

The next step
The next mission starts with you.
A donation, a membership, or your time: every contribution becomes surgery, safe anesthesia, and training on the ground.
