Philippines (Leyte) · 2013
The team changed its planned route and set up a temporary hospital in the damaged town hall.
Before
Part of the team was travelling to the planned Siquijor mission when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines. Hospitals, health centers, and village health stations across the region were badly damaged or destroyed.
The mission
With medication, water, and supplies, the team reached the disaster area together with the military. In Tanauan town hall it set up a temporary hospital — without electricity and under a damaged roof. Sixty-four patients were treated on the first day alone, many with open wounds or urgent surgical needs.
After
Some of the helpers stayed in Tanauan while the others continued the mission on Siquijor. What remained of the deployment were the encounters: gratitude and solidarity in the middle of the destruction.

A donation, a membership, or your time: every contribution becomes surgery, safe anesthesia, and training on the ground.
